Josh Holloway, shown above as that guy who stole Alicia Silverstone's purse in that Aerosmith video back when Alicia Silverstone and Aerosmith were both still cool, is in negotiations to play Gambit in the fourth installment of the popular X-Men film series. Holloway, best known for his role as Sawyer in the TV show Lost, is reportedly excited about the prospect of playing Gambit.
“I would love to play a superhero. I’d love to wear a cape and tights! We had a meeting and they wanted me to play Gambit, the card dealer character, they thought Id be perfect for the part.”
As somebody who loves Lost and hates everything about X-Men 3 (including that the audio and video got out of sync because I watched it in China on a bootleg DVD), I'm torn about this. Holloway is great on Lost, and I have no doubt he'd bring something good to the Gambit character. But if X-Men 4 has walking piece of shit Brett Ratner at the helm, or anybody who shares his sensibilities, it won't matter how good Holloway is. I think my ultimate advice would be that Holloway should only get involved if the director isn't Brett Ratner or Michael Bay or Uwe Boll. Basically, he shouldn't do it.
